Youth will learn real-life techniques such as suturing, setting a splint, wound care, taking vital signs and perform simulated clinical rounds. They will also work in teams as they research, diagnose, and develop treatment plans for moderate to severe illnesses.
Aspiring educators will create lesson plans and teach those plans to other youth in programming. Youth will learn basic math and reading skills as well as communication skills, instruction skills, patience, creativity, and people skills.
Youth will have the opportunity to explore their creativity and artistic selves in a fun, nurturing environment. Youth will learn the fundamentals of fine art and will be introduced to a wide variety of media, styles, and artists throughout programming. Projects include drawing, painting, print-making, sculpture, recycled art, and intro to mosaics and more.
For youth that is passionate about law, government, history, or public administration. Youth will study and explore topics relating to the various aspects of the criminal justice system. They will learn about law enforcement, criminal behavior, the American court system and will be able to combine knowledge with their passion for justice to create a safer future for everyone.
(This program is mandatory for all youth in programming every Friday) Money Matters will help youth take charge of their financial future by introducing financial literacy. Youth will learn to be financially disciplined, learn how to budget, and learn the importance of having money in the bank. Through Stimulating activities, youth will use fun interactive games to learn about financial skills.
